Sanmaan on their Shirdi trip...

We made a short trip to Shirdi and Shani-Shingnapur (less than 36 hrs !!) in around mid jan.
There were 11 of us, Agaskars -Prabhakar(Annu), Hema, Kshipra, Nandkumar(nandu), Beena, Chaitali(chani), Dighes- Baby Aatya/Maushi, Casanova Jaideep, Tawdes- The ultimate Sai Baba Devotee Kamal, The most wanted but least available Swagat and yours truly.

We all boarded the bus at Ratna hotel, Goregaon at around 10.30 in the night. The bus journey was uncomfortable to say the least. We reached Shirdi in the morning at around 8.00. The first thing one notices upon alighting there is half a dozen ppl crowding around you like flies, pestering one to stay in such and such a hotel.

Coming to Shirdi itself, its not even much of a small town...more of an assortment of commercial establishments, hotels and restaurants around the main temple. Its Sai Baba everywhere. Except for the main Sai Baba temple, there is nothing much to see at Shirdi. The temple complex is huge and very well mana ged by the authorities. From Shirdi, We were off to Shani-Shingnapur. We booked Mahindra Max(a clone of trax) and 11 of us were packed into that max. The ride was more frightening than Esselworld's Zyclone. Just mention it to Nandu and you will know what I mean.

Shani Shingnapur is famous for its doorless mystery. There is a Stone pillar in the middle of the temple where you have to pour oil. Women are not allowed in the vicinity though. Before entering the temple complex, you have to take a bath and dress only in saffron clothes which was pretty embarrassing for me. We came back to Shirdi in the evening, had dinner and left for Bombay in the night.
